About Me: I was born in Bronx, NY to two great Dominican parents. I have two brothers, one older & one younger. I'm the only girl & stuck in the middle. No fun! I have a beautiful niece & nephew whom I love to pieces! I moved to hell a.k.a Miami when I was about 7 or 8 years old.

Growing up when teachers asked, "What do you want to be when you grow up?", I always answered the following way, "Singer, radio DJ, or weather person"...the radio DJ won this fight. Music is in my soul so I knew that no matter what career I got into, it had to have music involved someway, somehow. Shoutout to all my hip hop heads!

I met Ana & Dori-chan during our middle school days and of course Betty is my cousin. We've been close friends for close to 15 years now. WOW...that made me feel old just typing that.

I first got into Asian music thru Ana & Dori. They had this secret life they kept from me because they thought that I wouldn't understand, and they were right at first. I gave them side eyes for liking Japanese music or for watching dramas that they couldn't understand but then, I saw Jin Akanishi & KAT-TUN & my life changed. I got over that "wtf is this" phase pretty quickly after that. I first got into Japanese music like, KAT-TUN, NewS, Utada, M-Flo etc. but then I got into TVXQ thru their Japanese releases & I came to find out that they were really Korean. So into Korean music I went. I started off with Big Bang, 2NE1, Tiger JK, TVXQ etc.

Around the early part of 2009 I started getting these ideas of doing a radio show that covered news, gossip, music & things of that nature. With my career in radio I kind of knew what I needed in order to make it happen but first I had to convince Ana & Betty to come along for the ride with me. Ana was pretty into it but I had to make a deal with the devil in order to get Betty to come on the show. After about 2 months of creating logos, making a website, getting segment ideas together, on July 13th 2009, Asian Pop Addict was born!

In just 3 short years, we've accomplished so much thus far, & we have all of you to thank. Your love, support, hate, shade, etc has made us what we are today. You better stay tuned to us because this is only the beginning.

If you ever have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up!

[About] Betty

Birthday: (I’m going to be honest) December 16, 1988
*CynCity: Fool, you were born in 1984.
*Me: Uhm, excuse me...but whose bio is this?
*CynCity: Yours but don’t lie to the ppl!
*AnaPana: (Shakes her head while playing Final Fantasy)
*Me: Whatever...Can I continue?
*CynCity: We’re waiting on you. Go...

Annyeonghaseyo!

To all the newcomers, Welcome to APOPA!

You’ll more than likely recognize me as the random giggling you hear in the background while everyone else is talking. I’m very silly and can be immature but its all just for laughs. I’m somewhat shy and rarely speak but when I do its for the Korean Word, a weekly segment in which I teach random words or phrases in Korean. I also give the JROCK news (one of my favorite segments)!

Now on to the good stuff! I fell into Asian Pop while watching Korean variety shows and dramas. I’m a geek for all things historical so its no surprise that what attracted me the most were the Historical dramas. I began to listen to the OST and that’s how I got into KPOP. It was a total shock for me to learn that Cyn City was also interested in Asian culture and through her and Dori-Chan (a close friend who makes special appearances) I jumped into JPOP and was introduced to Johnny’s. It was Cyn City who first mentioned the idea of a podcast show about Japanese and Korean entertainment. In the beginning I was hesitant to participate but both Cyn and Ana convinced me (or my sushi might have been drugged) to join in.
And while I played and skipped merrily in the bubblegum pop world of KPOP it was Ana Pana who led me into that dark and sinister world of JROCK/Visual Kei and I’ve never been happier. It’s all about The GazettE!

And now for some more random info about ME. My real name is Beatriz Rodriguez and I was born in New York City. Cyn and I are cousins, I met Ana in middle school and a year ago I was introduced to Dori-Chan. I graduated from Nova Southeastern University and hope to ONE DAY become an Oncologist lol. I dream of visiting South Korea and meeting Lee Jun Ki (actor in the Army until 2012) and the cast of 1 Night 2 Days and then take the ferry over to Japan and see The GazettE live! Did I mention how much I love the GazettE? Its real and its deep.

Anyways, I do enjoy receiving messages from the listeners so please feel free to email or tweet me some news. If you ever have any suggestions for the Korean word or any comments about the show, send us an email. We love to hear from you all!

I want to say THANK YOU to all our past listeners who have stuck with us and have given us their love and support! And I hope for many many many more shows and even more listeners/followers of Asian Pop Addict!

So, with this I will conclude my essay and go back to watching my WWII programming.

Farewell Mein Lieber Boys and Girls!

[About] Dori Chan

今日は

Well here I am the loud mouthed, dirty minded, sword loving Jamaican.

Where to start mmm……

Born and raised in Jamaica but visited Fl. Often so I know it well. Moved permanently at 15 where I met Cyn, a year later Ana, and then Betty. Well my love of all things Asian started many many years ago from anime as a little girl to now(and being half Chinese) during my life I kept my fandom to myself for the most part, so I was very happy when Ana confessed finally spoke and it just took off from there.

I do have to say that of all the girls I will NOT get lost in Japan lol as I am currently the only one studying Japanese, tho I will take a lesson from any language this one is a constant. And yes I do have a love of swords, knives, daggers and everything with a blade on it but it has to be well crafted, cause I don’t deal with crap shit. I am honest, outspoken and my mind stays in the gutter which always brings the lolz but I’m also very protective of my family as the girls will tell you. I guess that’s why I do the movie reviews cause if its crap then I will say it and more often than not it’s not in English.

Well that’s all for now want to know anything else or want to hear my two cents about anything you know what to do.

Laterz………..

Dori Chan is our resident movie reviewer plus part time DJ.
